- II
Carnegie Library, 1904, Campbell. Exuberant red brick building with terracotta dressings. Two storeys, five windows wide. Windows segmental, with rusticated architraves and mullions and transoms. Central bay set forward with rusticated Ionic columns to ground floor and Flemish gable to parapet with convex balcony. Entrance to left, with balustraded entrance canopy upon rusticated Ionic columns. Bay window to ground floor right. Four bay return to Rabbits Road, with Flemish gable and oriel. Balustrade to parapet. Much finely moulded terracotta ornament including masks to keystones and names of literary figures to frieze. Interior not seen.
