3/3 Gate Lodges, gate- 1.11.66 way and gates at Norton Place (Formerly listed as Norton Place G.V. II Lodges)

Gate Lodges, gateway and gates. 1776, by John Carr; with C20 alterations. Ashlar, coursed squared limestone rubble, hipped slate roofs with lead dressings. Wrought iron gate with balanced single storey lodges to either side. The gate is flanked by tall rusticated piers, a tall screen wall with plinth and further rusticated piers; both sets of piers are topped with wreathed urns. In the screen walls are single glazing bar sashes with Gibbsian surrounds. Beyond to either side are single storey lodges, that to the left having a C20 metal casement and that to the right having 2 C20 glazing bar casements. At the extremeties are further lower piers and coped ramped walls down to end piers. The lodges behind are in stucco and have been altered C20. The wrought iron gates have serpentine and straight stiles, decorated mid rails and ramped tops with lyre scrolls down hinge sides, topped by scroll finish to top and centre.
