Details

BRANT BROUGHTON AND STRAGGLETHORPE STRAGGLETHORPE LANE SK 95 SW (east side) 6/59 Stables at Straggle- thorpe Hall 23.8.67 GV II Stable block. C16, C18 restored 1912-14 by Biddulph Pinchard. Coursed rubble with ashlar dressings. Pantile roof with 3 sets of tall brick stacks on stone bases. Quoins and ashlar coped gables with kneelers. 2 storey, 8 bay. Off- centre archway with moulded and chamfered 4-centred arch, above a single 2-light window in the gable flanked by plain buttresses. To the south a single 2-light window on the ground floor and 2 3-light windows above with a 2-light window between. to the north 2 3-light windows with a double flight of stone steps between leading to plank door above, flanked by a single 3-light window to the south and 2 similar windows to the north. All windows have chamfered ashlar surrounds and mullions with iron casements. Single storey C18 brick range attached to south and a 2 storey C18 brick range attached to north.
