Former school and teacher's house. 1868-9. Coursed rubble stone and squared
stone with stone and red brick dressings and striped plain and fishscale tile
roof with 2 brick ornamental ridge stacks and similar rear gable end stack.
Stone coped gables and elaborate moulded brick eaves. In Gothic style. 2
large gable facing with 2 smaller gables in between. Left gable is school.
2 storeys of 4 windows : that to left of 5-lights with cast iron glazing bars,
the centre 3 under brick arch with stone plate tracery, then 2-light, 1-light
and 2-light. On ground floor, from left, large projecting lean-to porch with
2 1-lights either side central gable with brick arch and openwork part-glazed
door, 3-light casement with top lights, part lean-to porch with open work
part-glazed door, and 3-light casement with top lights. On left side are
4 paired top-opening 1-lights with cast iron glazing bars. Gabled porch to
left. V.C.H., Vol. V.
