FROLESWORTH MAIN STREET (North Side) SP59 SW 3/25 The Old Rectory

GV II

House, formerly rectory. Structure probably largely C18, but possibly with earlier core, and then refaced in the mid C19. Stucco over brick with plain tiled roof. Two storied with attics, main range with two cross wings in plan. Present doorway is in smaller gabled bay to left, and there is an earlier door to the left of the main range. Left hand gabled wing of 1 bay, the right hand wing of 2 bays. Windows are all C19 openings with stuccoed heads with keystones, but the glazing is renewed. Stucco to walls conceals plinth and sill band in main range and right hand wing. Ornate barge boards to overhanging eaves. Axial stack between main range and right hand wing, others in side walls and on inner face of left hand wing. The two stacks associated with the right hand wing are of early very narrow brickwork, and one has a dentilled plinth detail. Centre of rear elevation is built out in a mid Cl9 canted wing, with sash windows to ground floor and Palladian window to drawing room above. Modillion eaves cornice.
