II

Lodge, now a house. 1868. Designed by R. W. Johnson. Coursed and squared ironstone with limestone ashlar dressings and Swithland slate roofs. Chamfered plinth, quoins, bracketed eaves, pierced bargeboards with finials, single lateral, paired ridge and single gable square stone stacks. Single and 2 storeys, 3 bays. T-plan. West front has a central gabled wooden porch with arch braces and moulded pointed doorcase with a part- glzed door, flanked to left by a projecting gabled wing with a canted hipped bay window with 3 plain casements, and to right by a single storey bay with a square gabled bay window with a foiled triple lancet in a pointed arched reveal. Above the door, a gabled cross eaves dormer with a cusped single lancet, flanked to left by a gable with a cusped double lancet casement in a segmental pointed reveal. North side, to street, has to right a double lancet. Rear has, to right, a gabled wing with a shouldered doorway and a mullioned casement. Above, a double lancet. To the left, a lean-to addition with a C20 casement. Above it, a cross eaves gabled dormer with a single lancet. This building was erected as a lodge to the north entrance to Edmondthorpe Hall.
