Farmhouse. Late C18. Red brick with painted rusticated quoins and
black platbands and window dressings. Low pitch hipped slate roof with
brick end stacks. 3 storeys with shallow central projection and
modillion eaves cornice. Regular 3 window front with glazing bar
sashes on first and second floors, the latter in shallow surrounds;
sashes on the ground floor in gauged head surrounds with decorated key
blocks. Doric columned doorcase with triglyph frieze and triangular
pediment. Half-glazed panelled door in rusticated reveals. Central
first floor window with reeded head and cornice. Interior: Sitting
room has raised and fielded dado panelling. Very heavy acanthus and
modillion cornice. Marble fireplace, black and brown with
classical-type mantel. 2 storey staircase with voluted tread ends,
stick balusters and thin ramped rail. Early C19 marble fireplace in
second sitting room. Moulded cornice. Stable wing to rear; red brick
with modillion cornice to tiled roof. One storey and loft. Irregular
openings with 3 on first floor, 3 windows on ground floor and 3
doorways with larger opening to left. Roof carried over throughway to
right.
