CASTLE DONINGTON HIGH STREET SK 4427-4527 (east side) 9/69 Barn, maltings and stable to south of No 15 GV II
Barn with disused maltings at far end, and stable extension. Barn is C17-early C18 in origin, with fragmentary timber framing in west bay. Rebuilt and enlarged C18 with late C18-early C19 maltings at east end. In front of maltings is an early-mid C19 stable extension, and another late C18-Cl9 wing projects from west end. Brick with plain tile roofs. Barn and later wing have vent slits and semi-circular unglazed openings with radiating cast-iron glazing bars. Cart doors and other doorways to yard on north side. Stable block has similar lunettes, stable door, and loft doorway in gable end. Maltings retain drying floor and crumbling vaults over blind-arcaded passage around kiln. Barn has inserted floors.
