Details
KEGWORTH LONDON ROAD SK 4826-4926 11/126 No 40 (Friends Cottage) - and short length of wall attached to SE corner - II
House, at one time used as Quakers' meeting place. Mid C18, refurbished C20. Red brick on rendered plinth, C20 plain tile roof with brick gable copings, brick chimneys, to centre of road front and between left bays of south front. Repointed C20. L-plan with stairs and outshot in rear angle. 2 storeys and cellar, 3 bays to south. Corbelled dentil eaves. South front has wooden cross casements, all renewed C20, with original gauged brick heads and painted key- stones. Central C20 door with rectangular fanlight, similar head, and C20 flat wooden hood on brackets. Front to road has 2 bays of windows of the same type, and a cellar window. Interior altered. Attached to SE corner of house is a short length of late C18-early C19 garden wall, of brick, with rounded brick and stone coping, ramped down to gate.
