Built in 1845 as a Baptist Chapel, architect Joseph Hansom (a Roman Catholic). Stuccoed building with rounded facade to street, flanked by two small semi-circular bays forming porches. The centre section has Roman Doric/Tuscan 3/4 columns with ornamental bands forming six bays. The ground floor has a blind arcade of moulded stucco arches, above basement windows with corresponding arches. Triglyph frieze and plain cornice. Side bays have "Tower of the Winds" type of ½ columns dividing each into three bays, with plain three-panel windows below the plain frieze and cornice. Each side has rusticated ground floor and double doors in moulded rectangular frames with cornices on consoles. Old slate roofs to all. Including heavy cast-iron area railings and stuccoed piers.

Interior: semi-circular on plan with moulded balcony on cast iron piers. Cast-iron piers rising from back of balcony supporting dentilled entablature with clerestory over with small Doric columns and console brackets between lights. Circular ceiling with guilloche pattern.

Hansom Hall and Nos 50, 52 and 54 (Former City Lending Library) form a group.
