9/1 Stainscomb Farmhouse
- II
Farmhouse derelict at time of survey. Late C17. Coursed gritstone rubble, stone slate roof. 2 storeys, 2 cells with 2-storey front porch and outshuts to rear. Large quoins. Porch to right of centre, has chamfered quoined square-headed doorway; within are stone benches and an old, studded oak door. Inverted offset beneath niche for datestone (missing) set below intact 3-light, double-chamfered, mullioned window. Housebody, set back on left, has an incomplete 5-light mullioned window beneath similar 4-light window. Front wall to right of porch and roof above, have collapsed. External stack to left gable no shaft. Rear: several crudely-formed mullioned windows, mostly blocked. Interior: housebody has broad fireplace with collapsed arch; twin spire beams; collared principal-rafter truss over. Stone-paved stair and landing within outshut.
