House, 1873 with C17th remains. Pebbledashed brick with sandstone dressings and slate roof. Irregular plan. 2 stories with attics. Windows have an inner hollow chamfer and outer rebate, and hood moulds. Some of the window dressings could be C17th. South front has, at left-hand side, a one-bay outshut with 3-light windows. Further right is one bay with mullioned and transomed windows, of 12 lights on the ground floor and 8 lights on the 1st floor. Above is a 2-light attic dormer. To the right of this bay is a gabled porch, now with no doorway and with 2 2-light windows, the second window in the front wall of an outshut against its right-hand return wall. Above the left-hand window is a plaque inscribed: 'RFA GOD'S PROVIDENCE 1656'. To the right of the porch the facade is continuous, but belongs to a narrower wing without an attic storey. Above the porch outshut is a one-light window. To the right is one bay with mullioned and transomed windows, of 8 lights on the ground floor and 6 lights on the 1st floor. The west gable has one bay to the left of a single-storey porch, having mullioned and transomed windows, of 12 lights on the ground floor and 10 lights above. Above the porch is a similar stair window of 6 lights, with a 2 - light chamfered mullioned window above. The south porch wall has a window of 2 cusped ogee lights. The doorway is moulded with Tudor-arched head. To the right of the porch is a projecting stack with offsets, with a brick cap. The numerous other chimneys have similar caps. On the north side are subsidiary wings. Interior. Room to west of porch on south front has 2 axial beams, each with ovolo mouldings, with a roll attached to the soffit and with painted inscriptions. The room to the north of the porch on the west gable has a moulded Tudor arch framing an inglenook within which is set a stone fireplace. Both are C19th. Other rooms not examined.
