SCARISBRICK HALL ROAD SD 31 SE 8/27 No.112 and 114 (North lodge to Scarisbrick Hall) with gatepiers and walling 11.10.1968 - II
Gate lodge (now 2 dwellings) with associated gatepiers and walls. Probably c.1840. Punched squared sandstone with quoins, low-pitched hipped slate roof concealed by parapet. Three bays and 2 storeys, in Tudor style, with embattled parapet, Tudor-arched windows (a) and doors (b) with hoodmoulds, arranged a,b,a,b,a at ground floor; 3 similar windows above; modern glazed doors; all windows have 4 cusped lights and wooden mullions; at 1st floor, above the doors, are 2 stone shields, the 1st blank and the other carved with crested arms and decorated surround including a ribbon lettered "PATIENTIA VINCIT OMNIA". Tall chimneys at the end walls. Associated gatepiers c.3 metres high, square in section with stop-chamfered corners, octagonal caps with weathering; low convex approach walls with roll-moulded coping, ramped up to the piers.
