The Park was laid out by Paxton in 1842, and the main
entrance (corner of Croxteth Road and Devonshire Road) was
perhaps designed by Pennethorne. Two concave stone walls
about 5ft high with open panelled parapet, and end square
stone piers, panelled with cornices. In the centre are two
larger stone piers with channelled rustication, paired
pilasters and paired iron gates with flanking single gates.
