ACCRINGTON TOWNGATE, HUNCOAT SD 73 SE 3/36 Hill House Farmhouse - - II

Farmhouse, C17, now house. Coursed rubble with quoins, slate and stone slate roof with gable copings, one chimney on the ridge and another at right gable. Typical C17 3-bay baffle-entry 2-storey house with 2-storey gabled porch and 2-storey gabled rear extension. Porch at junction of 1st and 2nd bays has slightly-arched doorway, a 4-light double-chamfered stone mullion window with a hoodmould at 1st floor, a later door and a small stairlight in left side, and similar small window in right side. There are 6 other double-chamfered stone mullion windows with hoodmoulds: at ground floor of 2, 5 and 2 lights, and at 1st floor all of 4 lights (one lacking 2 mullions). Rear has inter alia a small chamfered window on each floor of 3rd bay. Interior: stone staircase in porch, otherwise altered.
