HESKIN TOWN LANE SD 51 NW 13/132 Craggs Farmhouse 17.4.67 - II

Farmhouse. Dated 1662 on porch, extended and altered. Coursed thin sandstone rubble, red tiled roof. T-plan; 2-bay end-baffle-entry house with added 3rd bay, and rear wing. All 2 storeys; to right hand side of 2nd bay a gabled single-storey porch with lintel lettered in relief 1662, studded HAW inner door with ornamental strap hinges; to the left, two 5-light double-chamfered mullion windows with hoodmoulds, above these 2 large cross-windows, one with a sliding-sash opening, and at left end an inserted door; to right of porch a vertical joint, and right of this a door at ground floor and a window like the others at 1st floor. Rear wing has a large external chimney stack on the north side, and in the rear gable one window on each floor, the upper being an old cross-window with lead cames remaining in one light (this part may be earlier than the front range). Interior not inspected.
