WHEELTON SD 62 SW 6/202 Barn c.30 metres west of Wheelton House at SD 613 202 - (approx)
GV II
Barn with integral shippon. Dated 1739 (or possibly 1759) on lintel of door. Coursed squared sandstone with quoins, graduated stone slate roof. Five bays, shippon at south end and central opposed wagon entrances broader than the north end. East side, facing house, has doorway at right hand end with long and short jambs and rectangular lintel inscribed "Henry Livsay 1739" (or 1759) central wagon entrance under carried-down roof, and 3 squared windows to the left of it. West side has similar windows in equivalent position, square loading door above, and slit breathers to the northern half. South gable wall has a doorway at each corner with large jambstones, a square window in the centre with stool for mullion; north gable has water tabling on 2 levels. Interior: roof of 3 kingpost trusses with Y-struts and angle struts, 3 pairs of purlins; loft over shippon.
