SD 51 NE CHORLEY PRESTON ROAD
5/65 No.175 (Waterloo Lodge) 29.3.1982 - II
House, early C19. Stone, hipped slate roof with one chimney on the ridge, one at left and 2 at right end. Rectangular double-pile plan of 3 bays, the 1st being a later addition. Two storeys and basement. Moulded cornice, quoins. First bay has one window on each floor; otherwise the original house is symmetrical: in the centre a rectangular recess with slender Tuscan columns in antis serving as a porch to a round-headed doorway which has a fanlight with radiating glazing bars; 2 windows at ground floor and 3 above; all windows now boarded but originally sashed with glazing bars. Left return wall has a ground floor door and 3 windows, right return wall has one window on each floor; rear has basement door and exceptionally tall stairlight, and 3 tall windows to each floor (presumably sashed, but now boarded). Interior not seen.
