10/19 Rugglesmire Farmhouse 16.11.1954 GV II
House, late C17th. Pebble dashed rubble with stone slate roof. L-plan, with the main facades in the inner angle of the L. 2 storeys. The windows have an inner hollow chamfer and outer chamfer, with mullions, some restored. Continuous ground-floor drip course. The north-east wing has a 5-light window on the ground floor and 2 3-light windows on the 1st floor. To the right is a moulded doorway with shaped lintel, the drip course rising over it and with a framed opening for a datestone above, now blank. The south-east wing has a 5-light window on the ground floor and one of 4 lights on the 1st floor. To the left is a modern extension in keeping. Chimneys on the gables of the wings. At the rear of the south-east wing is a modern extension. The rear wall of the north-east wing has a gable to the right. Beneath it are a 3-light and a 2-light ground- floor window, one of 3 lights on the 1st floor and a blocked attic window. To the left are 2 C17th windows, one restored. Interior. The north-east wing has, against its gable wall, a wide fireplace with cyma-moulded segmental head, the jambs being modern repairs. The dog-leg stair, towards the north-west in the angle between the wings, has 2 flights, a closed string, moulded square newels with massive balls, turned balusters and a deeply-moulded handrail.
