HILDENBOROUGH RIDING LANE TQ 54 NE 5/199 Stable block about 35m north west of Great Forge Farmhouse 29.1.90
GV II
Stable block. Circa late C18/early C19. Flemish bond brick with blue headers, the returns weatherboarded; peg-tile roof. Weatherboarded cartshed with a peg-tile roof.
Plan: West facing, backing on to a pond in the farmyard. Rctangular 3-bay stable with a cartshed adjoining at the north (left) end.
Exterior: Lofted stable block; single-storey cartshed. The stable block has a symmetrical 3-bay west front, the roof half-hipped at ends. Ground floor openings with segmental arched brick voussoirs. C19 or C20 stable door in the centre with an illegible datestone over the lintel, flanked by C19 2-light casement windows, 8 panes per light. Gabled loft doorway in the centre. The east elevation has 3 stable doors with timber lintels. The cartshed has one window to the east elevation; paired doors and 2 C20 2-light casements to the west elevation.
Interior: Plain late C18 or early C19 partitions.
