A pair of houses, formerly 3, the surviving part of a row of 6 almshouses. Rebuilt 1612 on the site of 4 earlier almshouses destroyed in the fire of 1608. Timber-framed and rendered; plaintiled roofs. EXTERIOR: 2 storeys. 4 window range: small-paned 2-light casements and one additional C20 insertion; 3 windows to the ground storey, two 2-light small-paned casements, larger than above, to No.7 and one 4-light early C20 window with transom to No.9. 3 doors. No.7 has 2 red brick chimney-stacks on the rear wall; No.9 has a small lean-to extension, an inserted internal chimney-stack and the remains of an older end stack on the north. INTERIOR: a few plain timbers exposed inside. No.7 has one open fireplace with a plain timber lintel. Chamfered main beams exposed on the ground storey; later partition walls, but an original studded partition above tie-beam level within the roof-space has old wattle-and-daub infill remaining.
