HILMARTON CALNE ROAD SU 07 NW (east side) 6/224 Manor Farmhouse GV II Farmhouse, C17 timber-frame and painted brick north wing with c1860 squared rubble stone large east wing added for Poynder estate. Plain tiles. Two storeys and attic. North wing has rebuilt ridge stack, square framing on rubble plinth and C19 north end barge boards. East side has one C19 bay at left end, door below and mock framing above with casement pair. 12 x 4 panel original part with two casement pairs above triple casement and pair below. Curved tension braces at upper angles. North end has curved angle braces, casement pair to attic and first floor and 4-light casement to ground floor. West side has barge-boarded dormer, first floor casement pair and triple casement, ground floor tiled lean-to to left with crude balusters filling three openings, rubble stone wall to ground floor right with triple casement. End bay is C19 with mock framing above door in C19 gabled porch with barge boards and similar crude balusters to front and sides. To right C19 added range has west end barge-boarded gable with mullion-and-transom 1:3:1-light canted bay and 3-light with hoodmould above. North front has ornate stone centre porch with barge boards, Tudor-arch door with hoodmould and Poynder arms over. Tudor-arched door within. To right, a 3-light mullion window below and 2-light above under barge-boarded dormer gable, both with hoodmoulds. To left a slightly advanced barge-boarded gable with mullion-and-transom 1:3:1-light canted bay and mullion-and-transom 2-light with hoodmould above. Roughcast east wall. South front is plainer with blank gable to left, cambered head casement windows and three eaves dormer gables. C19 addition is probably designed by Henry Weaver, agent to the Poynder estate.
