BREMHILL BREMHILL VILLAGE ST 97 SE (south side) 8/20 Three monuments in churchyard north of chancel of Church of St Martin GV II Three chest tombs, C18 and c1830, ashlar. From east: a) Woodward monument, about 3m north of chancel, c1830, neo-Grec style with cross-ridge cap and antefixae at angles. Rings in pediments. Raised angle piers with arch-headed panels and low- relief husk drops, picked out in black. Two plaques each side in black borders with concave rebated angles. Inscription to G. Woodward died 1828. b) Unidentified monument about 2m north of a), mid C18, with two raised shield plaques each side, Roman Doric fluted columns to centre and angles. Moulded base and cornice with pulvinated frieze broken forward over columns. Fine carved scroll each end. c) Pill monument about 3m west of b), early C19, with reeded rounded angles, ridged capstone. North plaques with draped urn between, south plaques with drapery drop between. Inscription to J. Pill died 1842.
