GV II

Former service building to royal stud farm, now detached house. Early C17 with C18 and C19 alterations. Some rubble and colourwashed brick with stone dressings, stone slate roof and rear brick stacks. Rectangular plan with C17 section to the west and C19 addition to the east end. Two-storey and attic, 3-window courtyard front. Windows to the left are 2 and 3-light C19 casements, ovolo-moulded mullions to ground floor right; attic windows are under 2 gables which are C19 insertions. Plank door off-set to left. West end wall has further mullioned fenestration and gabled porch with plank door. Former hipped roof to west end breached by the C19 gables. Lean-to milking loggia on circular brick piers to rear wall. Interior. Several chamfered beams, rustic plaster motif to ceiling of ground floor room in centre, plain C18 staircase with mahogany handrail and square balusters and original butt-purlin, collar-beam roof structure with C19 modifications. The building is reputed to have served as a Quaker meeting house.
