GV II
Six chest tombs and one pedestal tomb (b). Early-late C18. Limestone. Lettered east to west and north to south. a) Unidentified. Early C18. Lyre-shaped end panels with deeply moulded volutes and cartouches: putti to west end, shield to east. Vigorously ornate south side panel with putti holding open drapery to reveal inscription and further putti holding books. Chamfered base and heavy cyma recta moulded slab. b) Pedestal tomb. Browne family. Late C18. Square on plan with moulded base and cornice deveoping to a gadrooned urn recently repaired. Roman and italic lettering to several members of the Brown family on all sides. c) Browne family. Late C18. Angle balusters; south side panel has recessed niches with urns and Roman and italic incised lettering to John Browne. North side of 2 panels with C19 lettering to Charles Browne. Large plain base slab, paterae and reed frieze and ovolo-moulded top slab. d) Richard Francome. Late C18. Angle pilasters with leaf decoration and single panels to each side,that to south eroded, that to north with incised oval and Roman lettering. Moulded base, cornice and cyma recta moulded slab. e) Unidentified. Early C18. Plain rectangular chest with 2 coved panels to each side and single panels to ends with eroded lettering. Base sunk, chamfered slab reset. f) Richard Francome. 1762. Angle balusters and single panels to each side, that to north with boldly incised Roman and italic lettering. Chamfered base and cyma recta moulded slab. g) Francome family. 1727. Plain rectangular chest with incised Roman and italic lettering on both sides to Anne and Alice Francome. Chamfered base and cyma recta moulded slab.
