CORSHAM EASTON ST 87 SE 1/138 The Roebuck Inn 20.12.60 II
Inn, dated 1738, rubble stone, originally plastered, with ashlar dressings, stone-tiled roof, coped gables, south end and rear-wall stacks. Two-and-a-half storeys, 'L'-plan, 4-window range. Quoins and window surrounds raised originally flush with plaster, 2 moulded string courses and 3 dormer gables with 2-light cyma- moulded flush mullion windows and dripstone. Main floors have one- window range of 2-light cyma-moulded flush mullion windows to left, then door in raised moulded surround with pediment on scroll brackets and blank flanking single lights, 12-pane segmental-headed sash to first floor above, and, to right, 2-window range of 12-pane sashes, one blank on first floor. One first floor C20 window inserted. West end wall has upper 2-light window and lower 12-pane sash. Rear wing has one-window range to west, dormer gable with blank 2-light, first floor 2-light and ground floor 16-pane sash. Rear of main range has 2 blank dormer gables.
