BURTON DASSETT SP34NE 10/7 Burton Hill Farmhouse

Farmhouse. Dated 1714. Garden front rebuilt or refaced late C18; early/mid C19 right wing; mid C19 addition to left; some C20 alterations. Regular coursed ironstone; garden front of ashlar with simple cornice. Left range of red brick with dentil cornice. Slate roofs, with old tiles to garden front, have coped gable parapets; brick end and internal stacks. L-plan. 2 storeys and attic; 4-window range. C20 porch has glazed doors to left side. Main range has two C20 casements, and sash window. First floor has sashes. Datestone on first floor has initials RT. Right wing has shallow-pitched roof. C20 casement to ground floor; first floor has 2-light casements with glazing bars. C19 brick outshut to left side has 4-panelled door and two 2-light casements. Windowless one storey and attic left range is blank; return side has French window in segmental arch on first floor. Garden front is taller. 3-window main range. Symmetrical. Mid C19 stone porch has round arch, and sides have round-arched windows, all with keystones. Mid C20 metal French window inside. Late C19 four-paned tripartite sashes and central sash. Stone flat arches. Lower 2-window left and right ranges have C20 metal casements, on right to ground floor only. Interior: late C18 quarter-turn staircase has stick balusters and moulded handrail.
