Details

FILLONGLEY MERIDEN ROAD SP28NE (West side) 6/43 Hayes Hall GV II House. Late C18. Red brick, English bond, with stone dressings. Concrete interlocking tile roof, with parapet having moulded cornice and main cornice of dressed stone. Plan of main range with parallel and adjoining rear service range. 2 storeys. Symmetrical front elevation to the garden. 5-window range with recessed centre bay. Recessed 12-pane hung sashes under flat arches of brighter red brick. Ground floor windows are mid-C20, 4-pane hung sashes. Central Doric portico of stone, elliptical on plan, with entablature. Doorway in doorcase with moulded surround and boss enrichments at the corners. Double doors with glazed upper panels and 2 raised, fielded and reeded lower panels. On the rear overlooking the yard is the service range. Similar materials. Mainly late C20 first floor windows. At the north end a wider doorway with boarded door, leads to cross-passage to an external staircase leading to the cellars.
