DORDON FREASLEY SP29NW 8/24 Yew House 23/11/51 Formerly listed as House occupied by the Misses Wicksteed and formerly known as Lakyns, C.P. of Polesworth)

House, Late C16/C17, partly refaced 18/early C19, with later additions. Timber-framed with whitewashed brick infill, and whitewashed brick with some painted sham framing. Old plain-tile roofs; brick right end and ridge stacks. 3-unit plan with additions. 2 storeys and attic; 3-window range; one-storey-and-attic, 3 one-window range to left. Ribbed 2-panelled door on right. Irregular fenestration of 2- and 3-light leaded casements. Ground floor has 5 windows; 2 of them have segmental arches. Left range has C20 two-light dormer. C19 one-storey range set back on right is of whitewashed brick with dentil cornice, and hipped roof. 3-light wood mullioned and transomed window has segmental arch. Interior is said to have a C17 staircase. (VCH: Warwickshire: Vol IV, p189)
