Details

CURDWORTH COLESHILL ROAD SP19SE (North-east side) 4/58 Nos. 25 and 27 (Red Lion 20/01/71 Cottages) GV II House, latterly divided into 2 cottages. Early C17 with later alterations and additions. Timber-framed with brick infill panels and some brick rebuilding; plain tile roof; brick ridge stack. T-shaped plan: hall range with cross-wing at the north end and a later extension wing at the south end. 2 storeys. 1:1:1 window front: C20 casements. The hall range has one tier of square panels immediately beneath eaves level, with short straight braces, and a C20 door with segmental head to the right. It is recessed between the C17 gabled cross-wing to the loft and by a single-storey extension wing to the right. The former has a double collar roof truss with vertical struts between the horizontal members, and its left hand return has exposed framing of 3 tiers of square panels with short curved braces. The C19 extension has a collar-and-tie-beam roof truss and a lateral stack to the right hand return. Interior not inspected.
