23/23 Great Maxfield (Formerly listed as Great 3.8.61 Maxfield, Three Oaks)

II*

L-shaped timber-framed house. The North South wing is C15, close studded with a massive sandstone ashlar late-C14 chimney breast on the West wall topped by 2 octagonal shafts. The first floor overhangs at the North end on a moulded bressummer and brackets, and above is a similarly overhanging gable with fretted bargeboards and an attic window. On the first floor is an oriel window with a cove above and beneath it. Slate roof. The East wing is a late C16 addition with squares of plaster infilling. Tiled roof. The whole building has casement windows with small square leaded panes. Two storeys. Four windows. Empty and disused at time of resurvey.
