SP4631 DEDDINGTON NEW STREET (East side) 8/204 Ilbury House 08/12/55

GV II Substantial house. Probably late C17/early C18, re-modelled and extended late C18/early C19. Part-stuccoed coursed squared marlstone with some ashlar dressings; Stonesfield-slate roof with brick stacks. L plan. 2 storeys plus attics. Principal section of main range has a symmetrical stuccoed 5-window front with 12-pane sashes, and has a central 6-panel door with ornamental overlight and a fine panelled canopy on scrolled brackets with a dentil frieze; except for the doorcase, all stucco architraves have been renewed and altered. Roof has a moulded wooden eaves cornice, stone gable parapets with projecting moulded kneelers, and has 5 hipped roof dormers with 6-pane sashes; it continues to right over a C18 stone bay with a depressed-arched carriage entry below an ashlar band, and has leaded 3-light casements at first and second floors.
