Details
1. 5409 ST JOHN'S SQUARE No 5 (formerly listed as St John's Hospital) SU 0931 5/29B 4.8.51. II* GV
2. Forms wing at right angles to north of No 3. Part of the St John's Hospital complex and once a chapel. West front circa 1400 of stone and flint chequerwork with, to left, brick lacing courses (repairs). 2 storeys, offset string half way up 1st floor. Tiled roof. One 3-light window on 1st floor and a 2-light window on ground floor. Roughly central is a recess exposing a (late) Norman pier with heavy cap. Lean-to to right (see No 8). Gable end to north coped with paired pointed arch lights in gable. Buttresses to centre and right hand side. Brick repairs to chequerwork flint and ashlar. Traces to right of a window with square headed tracery containing cusped ogee.
