II
House gable end to road. C14 and C19. Brick with thatched roof. Two storeys, 4 bays comprising a 3-bay medieval house, with bay against road rebuilt in C19 as schoolroom, and fourth bay added C20 at opposite end. Entrance in C20 lean-to on west side, leading to rear bay of early house. Timber paned casement windows and 3-light transomed and diamond paned gable window to former schoolroom this end. Interior has two full cruck trusses forming central open bay. Trusses have half lap dovetailed tie beams and arched braced collars, with inserted moulding at centre of collar. Windbraces, now absent, to single purlins and principals extended and lapped at apex, and notched for ridge,Type E. Central bay has inserted deep chamfered cross beam ceiling with bar stops, and framed fireplace with timber lintel and jambs moulded. Room behind stack has angled fireplace.
