5/72 Christ Church 29.1.87 - II

Church. 1862-3. By Cunningham and Audsley. Snecked stone with roof of hexagonal slates. 4-bay nave, north west tower and spire, transept, and chancel and south vestry. Nave to west end has stepped triple lancets, the central lancet with tracery; roundel above has interlaced star of David. South side has alternating 2-light windows with Geometrical tracery between weathered buttresses. Gabled porch has diagonal buttresses, entrance of one order and 3-light side windows with colonnettes. Tower to north has angle buttresses, 2-light west window, similar window to north with rose window above, canted stair turret with entrance in square base to east. Stepped triple louvred bell-openings. Corbelled cornice with gargoyles, octagonal crocketed pinnacles and broach spire with 3 tiers of lucarnes. North transept has angle buttresses and north spherical triangle window. 2-bay chancel has angle buttresses, 4-light east window and paired lancets to north and south. Vestry has segmental-pointed entrance, dripstone and blind light above.
