2 linked farmhouses in same farmyard, now a farmhouse and 2 cottages. C16, floors and chimneys inserted later C17, E house altered in mid C19. Timber frame exposed only on rear gable of crosswing of W house with red brick infill panels. This has red brick casing to front over a stucco base, roughcast 1st floor to crosswing and low rear extension to N with dark weatherboarded outhouse beyond. E house stuccoed. Steep old red tile roof to W house: E house has steep roofs covered in slate. 2 2-storeys L-shaped houses linked in echelon facing S. An example of the Unit System whereby separate households jointly work the same farm. E house (Leggatts Farmhouse) has a hall range, W crosswing projecting to rear, and a small C19 brick wing built in the rear angle parallel with the hall range. Internal chimneys to wing and hall range. S front has 3 3-lights casements to hall range with door and 2 sash windows to ground floor under a lean-to verandah. Gabled wing to LH has a canted bay window and casement windows to 1st floor and attic. W house has short hall range and gabled W crosswing extending to rear. Cellar under E part of hall range. Tall brick chimney at junction of wings and entrance by stack. Rear outshut to hall. S front has small 2-lights casement window over door and a 3-lights window to right on each floor. 2-lights window to S end of wing, on each floor. Doorway in W side of wing to No. 2. Inside the W house has a winding staircase with heavy moulded handrail. (RCHM Typescript).
