Farmhouse, mid C17 with later additions and alterations. Timber-framed with red brick infill and plinth; slate roof.
Two storeys; four framed bays. Framing: slightly irregular tall rectangular panels, three from cill to wall-plate with slightly raised eaves. Right gable end has collar and slightly cambered tie beam truss with raking struts from tie beam to principal rafters and vertical strut to collar. Slate hanging to left gable end. Small C19 casements in panels of framing, one to either side of roughly central entrance on ground floor with one to left and two to right on first floor. Segmental-headed boarded door under C19 gabled brick porch has external lateral stack to right with red brick stack behind ridge to left. Timber-framed outshut to rear, formerly with continuous catslide roof, has raised eaves.
Late C18 or early C19 two storey red brick addition at right-angles to rear on left has integral end stack. Early C19 red brick lean-to with toothed eaves cornice attached to left gable end of main range.
INTERIOR: right ground floor room has deep-chamfered cross beam with flat heavy joists to front and chamfered joists behind. Chamfered wall posts visible to front and rear. Light timber framed partition separates room from part to right open to roof. Centre room has chamfered spine beam and chamfered joists and infilled inglenook fireplace with C19 cast-iron range to stack behind ridge. Small leaded casement to original back wall. Left room has slighter twin chamfered spine beams and joists with panelled corner cupboard to front right corner. C19 cellar below has cast-iron pump and well.
Red brick addition to rear has large brick chimney with wooden lintel to fireplace and cast-iron sink with furnace below to left. Two chamfered spine beams to ceiling, which is largely missing at time of resurvey (February 1987). Roof of main range has trusses (where visible) like that exposed to right gable end externally. Plank doors throughout, several with pointed strap hinges.
