II

House, latterly school. Late C18. Red brick with hipped plain tile
roof. 2 storeys and attic over basement. Dentil brick eaves cornice
and integral brick end stacks. Pair of hipped dormers with 3-light
wooden casements and tile-hung sides. 3 bays; plate-glass sashes (tri-
partite to outer bays) with painted stone cills and painted stone lintels
with keystones. Central doorway with 6-panelled door (lower 2 beaded
flush), wreathed fanlight and Doric doorcase consisting of unfluted
pilasters supporting sections of entablature and open triangular pediment.
C19 low 2-storey wing set back to right with brick ridge stack to left;
plate-glass tripartite sashes with stone cills and keyed stone lintels.
Rear of main block: 3 bays; segmental-headed glazing bar sashes, those
on first floor and on ground-floor to left with margin lights. Interior:
late C18 oak staircase with open string, cut brackets, stick balusters
(2 per tread), moulded handrail and square foot newel. Left-hand ground-
floor room with arched recessed flanking fireplace.
