COCKSHUTT C.P. ENGLISH FRANKTON SJ 42 NE 13/58 Barn approx. 20m south- - west of Lower Farmhouse 9.10.87 GV II Lower Farmhouse is shown on O.S. map as Lower Frankton Farmhouse. Barn. Circa 1700 with later additions and alterations. Weatherboarded timber frame on red sandstone block plinth; asbestos sheet roof. 2 doorways to left, one to left of centre and wide threshing entrance, formerly with opposing double doors (surviving to rear) to right of centre; 5 eaves hatches, including pair above threshing entrance. Interior. Framing visible: tall vertical posts with long straight tension braces. Bay partitions are weatherboarded on low red brick walls with mixture of long straight and curved braces. Single-purlin roof in 6 unequal bays with queen-post trusses, that to right gable end with collar and V-struts from collar. Left bay has loft over C19 cowstalls. Slate floor in threshing bay. Included for group value.
