4/8 Barn approx. 15 - metres to south of Shootrough Farmhouse
GV II Barn. Early to mid-C17 with c.1700 addition and late C19 alterations. Weatherboarded timber frame on high grey sandstone rubble plinth; gable end to south rebuilt in squared and coursed grey sandstone with brown brick dressings; plain tile roof. Two C17 framed bays with c.1700 bay to south, aligned approximately north-east/south-west. Framing: square panels, 3 from sole plate to wall plate. North-west front: 4 stone steps up to boarded door off-centre to left:; loft door to right. Segmental-headed boarded door in right-hand gable end to byre beneath barn at this end. Interior: collar and tie-beam trusses with queen struts (end trusses with v-struts too); cross frame with corner braces. Circa 1700 end bay with raised floor above byre. This barn forms part of a complete farmstead group, also incorporating farmhouse (q.v.) and cow houses (q.v.).
