7/89 Alderton Farmhouse -
- II
Farmhouse. Early C19 incorporating C18 core. Red brick on dressed red sandstone plinth; 2-span slate roof, hipped to east. Double-range plan. 2 storeys. Toothed brick eaves cornice; integral brick end stack to left and brick ridge stack on right-hand return. South front: 3 bays; glazing bar sashes (12-pane to ground floor and 20-pane to first floor); central C20 six-panelled door with 3-part overlight, and doorcase with panelled pilaster strips, moulded cornice, and brackets supporting narrow lead-covered hood. 2-window right-hand return front, left-hand windows blocked or blind. One-storey lean-to at rear. Interior not inspected but early C19 fireplace noted in left-hand ground-floor room with fluted pilasters, fluted frieze, and corner paterae. The building seems to consist of a C18 core to the north-west, extended to the south and east in the early C19 (see straight joints to north and west and C18 glazing bar sash to west).
