House, now pair of shops. Mid C17 with early C18 (dated 1702) and
mid-to late C19 alterations and additions. Timber framed with brick
nogging, partly rebuilt in painted and rendered brick. Plain tile
roof with 2 bands of fishscale tiles. Framing: small square panels.
3framed bays. One storey and attic and 2 storeys. Pair of gabled
semi dormers to right, the one to left with a cambered tie-beam
dated: "17 T M 02"" with struts above, and both with late C20 louvres over
windows and plain barge boards. Brick ridge stack off-centre to left.
First-floor 3-light C19 wooden casement to left with late C20 louvred
screen. Pair of late C20 shop fronts with plate-glass windows and
glazed doors. Further C20 window and half-glazed door to centre.
Revolving barber's pole to left of right-hand shop front. Some surviving
timber-framing in rear wall. C19 brick wing at rear too. Interior:
cambered tie-beam truss with queen struts. Chamfered purlins. Left-
hand ground-floor room with chamfered spine beam and plain joists.
Old floor boards and old boarded doors. Eaves raised probably in the
C18. Only part of the interior was inspected.
