II
Cottage. Late C17 with later additions and alterations. Timber framed
with painted brick infill on rendered plinth, machine tile roof. One
storey and attic, 3 framed bays; framing: tall vertical panels to
girding beam with single square panels above to wall-plate, long straight
tension braces; plastered gable ends (painted black and white in
imitation of timber frame) retain structural framing behind; square
panelling to back wall now hidden by full-length C20 single-storey brick
lean-to (not of special architectural interest); C20 casements to
left and right with 3 contemporary flat-roofed eaves dormers above;
entrance through C20 door in right gable end and painted brick ridge
stack slightly to left of centre. Interior: ground floor knocked into
one room but retains chamfered spine beams with heavy joists; single-
purlin roof has trusses concealed by wallpaper at time of re-survey
(1985).
