5/24 The Longner Lodge -
GV II
Entrance lodge. Circa 1803, probably by John Nash. Red brick with grey sandstone ashlar dressings; plain tile roofs. Tudor Gothic style. Plinth, parapeted gables with moulded copings, kneelers and finial; central ridge stack with pair of stone-capped octagonal shafts. 2 projecting gabled wings have 3-light transomed wooden windows with arched-top lights, chamfered reveals, and returned hoodmoulds; central panelled door has 2 arched lights with Y-tracery, moulded 4-centred arch, and porch consisting of 4-centred moulded archway with open spandrels, dripmould, and battlemented parapet with plain shield. Square bay in right-hand return front with cross-window and battlemented parapet. 2 square bays in left-hand return front. This is the entrance lodge to Longner Hall (q.v.).
