Details
EDLINGHAM LEMMINGTON HALL NU 11 SW 9/127 Wall north-east of Lemmington Hall with range of outbuildings attached to rear GV II
Garden wall, C18, with kennel/forge/stable/cartshed/workshop range dated 1918. Wall coursed tooled stone with cut dressings; outbuildings roughly-coursed rubble with rock-faced-and-margined dressings and red clay tile roof.
Very tall section at west end castellated with 2 large stepped buttresses behind. Next section, almost as tall but with flat coping, ramped down at right with a ball finial; to rear is a 1-storey, 5-bay outbuilding range; symmetrical with plinth. Central double doors under raised parapet on mask corbels with re-used central wreath enclosing datestone. Flanking bays each have central door between segmental-headed windows with iron lattice glazing. All doors are ledged and boarded, with interlaced heads. Two lower castellated sections of wall to east,stepped down, with a ball finial at the step, linking to brick wall around garden (q.v.).
Long lean-to shed on south side of third section of wall is not of interest.
