4/3 Farmbuildings approximately _ 40 metres to west of The Moat Farmhouse

GV II

Farmbuildings. Circa 1840. Coursed limestone rubble, weatherboarded timber frame; slate roofs. U -plan range around courtyard open to south-west; north-east range with central watermill, flanking barn and cartshed with granary over, and catslide roof over lean-to open- fronted shelter sheds to south-east; south-east range with stables and hayloft; former south-west range with cow house (cow houses now mostly demolished). North-east front; central projecting first floor weatherboarded hoist loft with steps up from right and large cast iron undershot waterwheel beneath; 4-bay cart shed to left with weather- boarded granary above; 5-bay open-fronted barn to right; large lunette in gable end to left. South-east range; north-west front: 2 boarded loft doors; 9 segmental-headed doors and windows, some blocked with C20 concrete block; large late C20 door in right-hand gable end; C20 lean-to addition to south-east. Large late C20 farmbuildings now occupy most of the courtyard. These fambuildings and the associated farmhouse (q.v.) form, despite alterations and partial demolition, an interesting example of an early C19 planned farmstead incorporating water power.
