2. Late C18 red brick house with early/mid C19 alterations. Three storeys. 3:3:3 window range, left and right in splayed bays, and right-hand 2-storeys. Sashes with glazing bars. Central panelled door in pilastered doorcase with console brackets and modern open porch. Tiled roof with parapet gable ends with kneelers. Two storey wing set back to left. Lord Burleigh, later Earl of Exeter stayed here for a time under the name of John Jones, and married a local farmer's daughter on 13 April 1790. The bride was not informed of her husband's identity until after the ceremony.
