GV II
House. Late C17, altered late C19/C20. Coursed rubble limestone with
semi-dressed front, C20 artificial slate roof, flanking rendered chimnmeys with
moulded cornices. Single range with projecting stair turret to centre rear and
later extensions in rear angles. 2 storeys, cellar and attic, 5 bays. Projecting
plinth, first floor band course, late C19 bracketed wooden eaves. Wooden cross
casements, renewed late C19, with late C19 wooden hoodmoulds in Tudor style.
2-light cellar windows, that to left with chamfered stone mullion. 2 gabled roof
dormers with C20 2-light wooden casements. Central door with 6 flush panels,
rectangular fanlight with central mullion, and substantial wooden frame. Late
C19 gabled stone porch with cusped bargeboards and wooden Tudor hoodmould over
entrance. Left gable end has 2 single oval lights in rectangular stone surrounds
to each floor, either side of chimney flue. Rear has old cross casements to
stair turret and right bay, above C20 brick and render extensions, and stone
extension projecting to left with early C19 brick upper storey. Interior has
fine C17 staircase with heavy turned balusters.
