Details

CLANFIELD FOUND LANE SP2802-2902 (North side) 7/46 No. 20 (The Pound) GV II

Shown on O.S. map as Nos.20 and 22, Pound Lane. House, formerly divided, now returned to one. Probably late C18, extended mid-C19; later additions and alterations. Roughly coursed limestone rubble; stone slate roof. L-plan comprising 3-bay main range with short twin-gabled range at right-angles to rear on left; main range extended to right in C19. Two storeys and attic. Four early C20 casements in earlier segmental- headed openings to first floor and three to ground floor, one to either side of C20 gabled stone porch to left of centre and one to right of C20 glazed door to right. Gabled dormer in roof slope to left of centre. Boarded door with glazed panel to top under gabled porch; outline of former steep-pitched gabled porch visible above glazed door. Integral end stacks, right rebuilt in C20 brown brick and left rebuilt to top but retaining dripstones. Brown brick ridge stack at junction between C18 and C19 parts. Interior. Chamfered ceiling beams to ground- and first-floor rooms with hearth stone of fireplace in left first-floor room (infilled) visible in ceiling of ground-floor room. [2344]
