Farmhouse. Early C18 but possibly incorporating parts of an earlier building;
later additions and alterations. Uncoursed limestone rubble; steep-pitched
hipped stone slate roof to main range, half-hipped and gabled to service ranges
and attached outbuildings. 2 storeys and attic. 3-window front; glazing bar
sashes, 16-paned to ground floor, in moulded stone surrounds with dripstones
probably replacing mullion windows; 3 hip-roofed dormers in middle of roof
slope. Central entrance; flush 6-panel door (top panels now glazed) in moulded
stone surround with bracketed open-pedimented hood. Extruded external end stack
to left has paired and rebated shafts with moulded capping and dripstone. Later,
lower half-hipped service range to right (see straight joint) has tall ridge
stack to left with paired and rebated shafts, capping and dripstone; 3-light C19
casement with wood lintel to set-back section to right on ground floor. Integral
lateral stack with tall red brick shaft to right. Rear. Back wall of main range
has 3-light mullion windows to centre on each floor, cut by C19 lean-to to left.
Infilled window (probably formerly of 2 lights) with dripstone on first floor to
right. Gabled range projecting at right-angles to left of lower service range
may be C17: granary to upper level approached by external lateral steps.
Interior. Much altered late C20 but retains stone-flag floor to ground floor,
some panelled doors and chamfered ceiling beams.
